The Department of Community and Economic Development actively elicits community involvement when working with government, and private sectors to build strong communities, industries, and markets. Community and Economic Development is a multifaceted comprehensive approach to community change that is not limited to just poverty programs, nor is it synonymous with industrial recruitment.
Community and Economic Development encourages using local resources in a way that enhances economic opportunities while improving social conditions in a sustainable manner.
Community and Economic Development also consist of a Residential Development Program which is designed to provide financial assistance to low to moderate income households to rehabilitate and preserve affordable housing. These objectives will be met through the correction of building code violations and addressing health and safety concerns associated with their homes.
